  • Usually about an hour, but time is adjusted for size. To know when it's done, just press on the spud. If it presses in easily and soft all around, get out the butter and salt because that baby's done!!!
  • 1 hour @ 450 degrees.... & Size like always does matter!!
  • Yes the size matters. Try to make them all about the same size. bake them in foil or without. Bake for 1 hour depending on size. You just have to stick a knife in it to check if it's done. If the knife goes all the way through, easily, it's done. Pre heat oven 400 degrees.
  • It doesn't take as long as it used to because I first cover it with water after punching wholes in it and put it in the microwave for awhile. Then, I put it in the oven at about 450 degrees and test the doneness by feeling it with a pot holder. Actually, somtimes I just cook baked potatoes until they are done in the microwave.
  • I put a potato( use a fork to make a few holes ) in the microwave for about 10 minutes..depending on the size.
  • I was going to say "DAH" but I thought that wouldn't be nice, so I didn't :)
  • Size sort of matters, but for most potatoes a good hour in a hot oven 425° makes them fluffy. Don't microwave if you want a real baked potato. It's just not the same. There is no dryness no crisp, no true fluffy creamy interior.
  • I usually make holes around and through the potato cook it for about 20 min in the Microwave because i like them very soft. Then i put them in a very hot oven to crisp the skin. That is for a large potato cut down the time in the micro for a small potato,
