  • Many places-banks, title loan companies, etc. will allow the previous owner of the vehichle to have his/her belongings back if the car is repossessed. The main reason being that they are repossessing the car not the items left within the car. In some cases carseats are left in the cars and those NEED to be returned for safety reasons. You should be allowed to retrieve any personal items, although Laws are different in every state. You will not be allowed to take anything such as tires, high performance parts or any replacment parts you have added.
  • When I had the unfortunate situation as such, I was told that I may retrieve anything that was not bolted or permanently attached to the vehicle.
  • I don't believe anyone would not allow that. It will vary state to state but it could turn into a legal problem they would rather avoid now that they already have to try and clean up and sell the vehicle.
  • only if you have a ride to get there
  • yes, they have to let you retrieve your belongings..problem is most times they do not let you go get them from the car..they remove them and what you end up getting back is not always everything that was in the car..things like ipods, etc...tend to go missing and you have no proof they were ever in the car.
  • YES; they give you up to so many days ; usuallly 14 or 30 to get your possessions. Failure to do so , means you forfeit your right to them ...
