  • If it is a front wheel drive, I'd suspect the CV (constant velocity) joints. They are the front wheel drive version of a U-joint. They are basically a bearing, through which the torque of the engine is transferred to the wheel, while allowing the wheel to turn to steer the car. It is a pretty complicated joint, and if the boot over it tears and allows water and dirt into the joint, it will wear badly in a very short time. Once it wears, the whole front end will shake badly. Crawl under the car and check to see that the boots just inside the front wheels are intact.
