The only one really worth saving is if you find a 1909 S VDB mint penny. I think there are only like, 9 in circulation at the moment, worth quite a bit of money. Otherwise, yeah, they don't have all that much value, but hang on to them. Who knows what they'll be worth in a few decades?

As AbbyValu says, the copper makes them worth about 2 cents each. However, it is illegal to melt them down in the US.

I would hang onto them. I also collect wheatback pennies. I have thousands of them. But anyway... the reason I would hang onto them is cos I have heard that in 2009 they might get rid of all the pennies and not use them anymore. If they don't do that, then they are going to change the designs. So either way the value of the wheatback is expected to rise in the next handful of months.
