Why did it take 8 months to cancel the show Invader Zim? New episodes were aired well into May of 2002.

Animated episodes are created months, sometimes years in advance. When an animated show is cancelled, usually they show the remaining new episodes they have "in the can". This was the case with Invader Zim. So even though it was cancelled in late 2001, they had an obligation to finish airing the series to completion. Usually this is part of a contractual obligation.
