  • My daughter still does this from time to time. She had a great photography teacher who introduced them to the dark room. There is certainly a warmth to these photographs that is missing in digital photography. I can't put my finger on exactly what the difference is, but it's clear when you put the two different photos up against each other.
  • Yes, as a teen, I did a lot of B&W photography, and developed quite an eye for composition. Unfortunately, my darkroom skills left much to be desired, and the cost eventually set me on a different path altogether. The new digital technology is easier, even cheaper. But there's something missing when you replace silver nitrate with electrons. I miss my SLR. :(
  • Oh yes... I LOVED doing black and white photography. Luckily, I was able to take a couple of classes in college, but even so, the supplies were so expensive. I actually had my own enlarger that an ex-girlfriend gave me when she moved to another state, but she came back later and asked for it back. I was kind of annoyed. If I had the money, I would totally set up my own darkroom and continue doing my own prints, it is such an unbelievably subtle art form, and the possibilities are limitless.
