I think that the round people would eat more than the square people, so plan accordingly. It's better to have too much than to have complaining guests. For the cake you ceremonially cut, it can be any size. Plan to have at least two sheet cakes in the kitchen to cut up and distribute to guests. Since the guests will never see the distributed cake, it really doesn't matter what shape it is, does it?
