Why are dreams often weird and incomprehensible?

    I truly believe that most of are dreams are symbolic one way or another. Some are just ridiclous and make no sense, but for the most part our subconscious, fears, desires etc are in the dreams that seem to not make sense. Our body is asleep but our minds are still active during sleep.

    It depends on whom you ask.

    A Freudian would say that all the weirdness is symbolic of something, that if you look deeply at what's happening, you'll find what the symbols and their actions represent.

    Another angle says that dreams are the products of neurons in the brain firing off signals and what happens is bizarre because it's a mish-mash of images and information stored in the brain.

    If dreams were like Hollywood films they would not be half as interesting to relate to your friends and family. Sometimes, I will eat a whole bunch of strange food combinations right before bedtime just to induce bizarre dreams. In fact, last nights was a winner, lots of turkey and other fixings made for psychotic wedding of an old lady I know that ended up in space travel with sexual overtones.

    Our dreams - are just, what we are thinking about on a day - today basis- put into a blender then mixed ---then poured - into a movie--we watch, while -we are sleeping.
