Imagine you have a cheque and a twenty dollar / pound note to pay in at a bank. You walk up to the desk. Do you say a)Please can I pay this in ?, or b)Please can I pay these in?

    I say "I'd like to make a deposit, please".

    But you could use (b.) as well.
