You can expect to pay less for man made or processed gold like coins or bullion because they are not unique like nuggets. Quality gold nuggets sell for a premium over processed gold because of rarity. Bullion (bars and coins etc.) are usually sold at or close to spot price which can be found daily at www.kitco.com

Back in December a gold necklace that I wanted for my brother, was almost $1000. The lady told me a few years ago it would have sold between $300-$400;so gold's gotten alittle more steep. I don't know if she's telling the truth, but I see no reason for her to lie.

I still think its best to go to jewerly places in downtown fashion districts, because its generally cheaper there than it will be in department jewelry stores.

Hahaha, which days? This question was asked on Aug 13, 2008 when the price had dipped to it's lowest point in a long time, at $785.

today it is leveling off around $850.
