  • "Titanic" in 1997, because that was an awful, awful movie with an awful soundtrack. Terrible acting, but what else is there to expect from a movie made in Hollywood?
  • I never understood how "The English Patient" won. It is one boring film.
  • There are many that have won the academy award when other more worthy films in the same year lost out here in my opinion are some of them:- 1941-How green was my valley beat Citizen Kane 1948-Hamlet beat The treasure of the sierra madre 1955- Marty beat Rebel without a cause 1959-Ben hur beat Some like it hot 1960-The apartment beat Psycho !977- Annie Hall beat Star wars 1994- Forrest Gump beat The Shawshank redemption 1998-Shakespeare in love beat Saving private Ryan
  • "crash" ~ ~ the screenplay was almost laughably pounding us over the head " Racism is bad! Racism is bad! Racism is bad!" The weakness of the script detracted from the great performances and the script made it not such a great film to me. [ In my opinion, "Brokeback Mountain" would have been a better pick that year. I'll also add I think "Titanic" (1997) deserved to win - - boy ,that film gets trashed. :) ] +5
  • There are quite a few of them. Amadeus, because a The Killing Fields was a much more deserving movie that year. Dances with Wolves, because it was a long boring movie. Braveheart should not have beaten Apollo 13. The English Patient, just because. Titanic was a boring load of bunk. Chicago because it is one of the worst movies ever made.
