An employer has no obligation to tell you why you weren't hired. However, if you have evidence that an illegal form of discrimination occurred (i.e. race, gender, etc.), you can sue them. That doesn't mean you can call the police and have them arrested, it means you can hire a lawyer and spend a bunch of money hoping to get a settlement in your favor.

Yes. Moreover, the employer does not even have to have a reason for not hiring you.

The notion that an employer is obligated in any way, for anything to anyone he has not hired is totally ludicrous. If it were law, that law would be actively resisted by one and all.

No prospective employer has to tell you why you weren't hired. In states that have what is called "at will" employment, they also are not required to tell you why you are being dismissed/fired.
