    My wife had a friend that didn't, who reasoned that she didn't have to drive because her freinds always took her wherever she needed to be.

    A certain genetic disorder characterized by slowly progressive incoordination (lack of coordination) of gait and often associated with poor coordination of hands, speech, and eye movements. Frequently, atrophy of the cerebellum occurs.

    It's spino-cerebellar ataxia. And yes, it is degenerative.
