What is the song Make Damn Sure by Taking Back Sunday about?

    "You start shaking at the thought you are everything I want
    'Cause you are everything I'm not"

    This song is about someone who wants someone but knows they are our of their league because of whatever reasons the narrator feels inferior. So the "laying together, just not too close" means there only going to be friends and he wont be able to "bring/break" her down to his level so they can date.
    So in the final verse when Adam starts saying: "I'm gonna make damn sure that you can't ever leave
    No, you won't ever get too far from me"
    he's letting out his anger of the realization that he constantly has to go thru because he is chasing the unobtainable!
