Any additive in water increases the boiling point and decreases the freezing point. Not just salt but also sugar and anything that is soluble

I've heard that the boiling point itself doesn't increase; what it does is make the water boil hotter (usually once water hits a certain temperature it can't get any hotter).

When salt is added to water, it would take longer for the water to boil.

Adding any soluble material to a liquid will increase the boiling point because now that material must also reach it's boiling point as well, due to the law of heat exchange.
