Yes, you can ask for back support. And Florida is very aggressive in their enforcement, usually suspending the DL of a noncustodial parent for failure to pay even a couple months of support. HOWEVER... When this situation is approached in court or mediation, the back support will most likely be negotiated to a lesser amount, and current support then established. Destroying a guy for $50G isn't a good way to guarantee future support payments. But all those things can be determined when the numbers come forth in mediation, which is where most of these things go in Florida. Good luck, hope things work out.
