  • The soul that sinneth dies. You need to read in context.
  • The Oxford English Dictionary has 104 definitions for the word "run" and, I was told, 78 for the word "get." The word "soul" also has different meanings in different contexts. Sometimes it just means persons, as in the Russian Gogol's novel "Dead Souls" about an entrepreneur of sorts who purchased the names of peasants who had died between censuses. The peasants on a Russian estate were always referred to as souls, as are the total members (adult, child and baby) of a church.
  • One thing to consider is that Scripture terms eternal spiritual punishment as "the second death" (Revelation 20:12-14). The soul still exists after physical death, but whether it exists in a state of spiritual life or spiritual death depends on what that soul has done with Jesus Christ. Christ said, "I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die" (John 11:25-26). All of us will die physically (Hebrews 9:27), but God gives us the option of whether we will live or die spiritually afterwards (John 3:36).
  • I believe that death in the Bible is separation. Physical death is seperation of the soul from the body, and spiritual death (the second death) is the seperation of the soul from the presence of God. The soul that sins is condemned to be sepeated from God forever in a tormenting place called the lake of fire. However, Christ took the penalty for us on the cross so that His blood could wash our sins away. Those that believe He is the Son of God, that He did this, and rose from the dead have eternal life and will be spared from the second death. (John 3:16, Romans 10 for more information.) As for the second part of the question, the soul is who you really are; your person. So, if you say "four souls die in a car accident" you are saying four people die in a car accident. I hope this helps. Thank you and God bless you!
  • You are absolutely right. The bible never teaches anything about an immortal soul that lives on after death. At death, the soul dies. The belief in the soul living on after death was adopted from teachings of philosophers such as Plato and old pagan religions by the churches many years after the death of Jesus. It's simply men trying to mix the teachings of men with god's word the bible. This is why you see so many bewildering answers trying to explain it. Because God's Word and man's don't mix. Jesus and the bible even warned that later on, many people would deviate from Christian teachings. "I know that after my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among YOU and will not treat the flock with tenderness, and from among YOU yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves." - Acts 20:29, 30. "However, the inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances..." - 1 Timothy 4:1 Consider this article, its goes more in depth on the teaching of the immortal soul. http://watchtower.org/e/20070715/article_01.htm
  • hi, i believe the soul is the evil within us,it is at constant battle to block out our true spirit which is mind (god). If you look within yourselves closley, you will find the soul always going against the mind trying to out do the "good works" of the spirit/mind. Therefore the soul dies and the spirit returns to god depending on the earthly mission they have lived, so be of godly value and pray for wisdom because god wants the best for us. soul wants all the evils and desires to end up miserable and depressed. look around at all the people today they need christ.
  • You are a soul, and also the soul in the context of the Bible is your life, which comes from God. So, even though people can kill us, or we die, God decides whether or not we receive eternal life or eternal death. Nobody else has that power.
  • We are living souls, also in the Biblical context the soul is our life, which comes from God. So in this life we can be killed or we can die, but It is God who decides if we receive eternal life or eternal death. He is the only one who has that power. That's why the Jesus said, "Fear not those who can kill the body, but fear him who can kill both soul and body.

  • it's good that you realize that most if not all religions of christendom or not teach that the soul is immortal. this belief as well as other teachings is what binds all religions as one. the only religion that teaches completely different is the Jehovah's Witnesses. there can only be one true religion, according to what the bible says. (matthew 7:13,14)this means that the rest are false.
  • Hello! The Bible says many contridictory nonsense concerning what happens to the dead. To be seperate from the body is to be present with the Lord. The dead in Christ shall rise first. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. Come on obviously none of these men new what the heck they were talking about. they made this crap up as they went along to satisfy those pesky questions their knucklehead follwers were asking. People do not have spirits, No heaven, No Hell, just BS. Have a nice day.
