That's a good question. My husband took time off from a new job and drove 4 house to a hospital where his father was having surgery. His brother took time off from a new job to fly in for their father's surgery. Then my husband and I drove 4 hours (1 way) every week-end for years to help his parents with the yard and house. His brother would visit every couple of years and yet the brother was considered the "good" son. I guess we tend to take what we have on a regular basis for granted - which isn't right, but it's human nature. Just know that you'll always be able to feel good about what you have done (and continue to do) for your parents.

that is a good question and I wish I had an answer. I am in the same boat sort of. I was always the "good girl". I never got in trouble..obeyed the rules. My brother stole large sums of $ from my mother, has been arrested, always in trouble. He never showed one sec. of responsiblity. I was there when mom had surgery, etc. My mom has STOLEN money from me, and treats me like garbage. She will go out of her way to cater to my brothers every little need but I can't even get her to "clear" her schedule or to care enough about me to be with me when I am scheduled to have surgery. the other day I was to have a medical procedure done and the first thing she said when I got there was how she sure wish she could go and do something else..so I wish I knew. It seems like the good, honest, faithful people get screwed and the ones who are never around or who just screw up all the time seem to become GOD..
