My ps2 has stopped playing copied dvd games but it will play original dvd games and it will play games on cdr disc do i need to get a new ps2 and mod it or can it be fixed

  Is there a way you can alter a playstation two game? ex. Make your own BGM, change the opening of the game, or even make solid snake look like mario? I know that it is illegal to do this, but i wouldn't try to sell it after i changed it.
