  • I do not believe that you need a particular degree from a university. If you are hired, they send you to their own recruitment school. I know there is a specific name for it though it escapes me right now. I think that police officers should have a psychology class under their belt though. I think it would be extremely beneficial seeing as they have to interact with a multitude of personalities.
  • Depends upon who is hiring. Most municipal police departments nowadays want some degree, either an AA or BA/S. The length of police academies also varies, but the average is about six months long. The best place to find out from is either your local P.D. or City Hall.
  • Come to my town. I don't think the police go to school. They'll hire anyone with a pulse!
  • Come to the UK - you certainly don't need a degree and it is rumoured that they have their brains removed at Police School and have a nickometer fitted instead ;0)
  • I think an associates in criminal justice would help but don't think it's required. If you decide to go that route I would also look into some criminology and abnormal psych too. I really enjoyed those when I was in college.
