  • you can major in performing arts at a lot of universities, but if you want to be an actor, your best bet is to try to get into a performing arts school. they even have some performing arts high schools, but i don't know how old you are, so... taking chorus is good, but you don't have to sing to be an actor, so you should also take drama. you need to try to perform in all of your school's productions. if your city has a local performing arts center that puts on plays, you should try to get into those too. if you have the time/money, you can taking private acting/singing lessons.
  • If you want to become an actor, major in Theater Arts. In the meantime, get a head shot, put together a resume of experience and check Actor's Access and LA Casting to see if you fit any of the parts they're looking for. They may not be paying parts, but it adds to your resume of experience. It certainly helps to live in LA or New York. Otherwise you're "up the creek" until you can relocate.
  • You can apply to a college for the performing arts. You might have a better chance at success. Be prepared to dole out some serious moolah for said college. Juliard comes to mind.
