  • Ooooooohhhh...you may have a time problem here. I had a Gateway I bought in 1998. A whopping 6 gig HD with a flopy disc drive and a CD ROM disk drive. At one point I had installed a CD burner and was then able to burn CD's. If you have this capability, then burn your music onto a few CD's and transfer them that way. You might even think about investing in a CD burner, BUT the newer ones probably aren't compatable with Win 98 any more. If you can network your computers, try that. I don't know how difficult this may be. Another option would be to transfer your entire HD into another computer and then copy the files from there and subsequently move them to your laptop. I doubt your mp3 files are small enough to fit on a 1.44 meg floppy, so that option is not viable. But if they were, you could transfer them one at a time. It would just take a long time to move everything. I used to be able to network an older laptop (originally came with Windows 95, but I had Windows 98 installed on it, that's how old it was) with some of my friend's newer desktops so I could transfer files off and clear up space on my little 1.3 gig HD. I suspect if you check around you will be able to find someone who knows how to do this with your desktop.
