  • I would say your rates went up because you moved farther away from where you work (therefore commute time in the car is longer, so there's more of a chance for an accident), you've recently been in an accident or gotten a traffic ticket or two (not necessarily the problem), or you've moved into an area which the insurer has found is more "crime-ridden" (for example, moving from a suburb to the city). Check with your insurer to find out why the rates went up. If you disagree, shop around.
