  • If I were you I would get a second opinion. What you are descibing is not average. What medication did the doc put you on? I would see a Cardiologist asap and have an EKG, stress test, and chest xray, to be safe. It is common to get a strange chest pains due to coughing, and it sounds like Pleurisy,or a muscle pull but does it get worse at night? Are you a smoker or drinker? Not to be personal but those are leading causes for chest pain.
  • I am not a smoker but have a drink maybe 2 or 3 times a month...I am 23 and this started in 2003 and is an on and off thing like lasts a day or two every 3 or 4 months. He gave me something in 2003 for it because it lasted almost a month and then it went away until just the beginning of 2006. It doesn't get worse at any part of the day or night...Like i said it is an on off thing
  • I found an interesting article about a young woman with similar problems. I am including a link for you to read what they found. I'm not saying that you are going to be diagnosed the same way, however it seems there may be more you can get done for an accurate diagnosis. Good luck. http://www.usc.edu/uscnews/stories/12100.html
  • I had that when I used to smoke. Don't smoke, sometimes it happened when I drank a lot of coffee. Don't drink coffee. It can take about 6 months to heal. This sounds kinda funky about the docs saying pulled cartelidge in the heart. U can get an MRI to see if this is true. I do not beleive there is cartelidge in the heart is there?? maybe there is. I like the second opinion answer, and the pulled muscle thing. Two points!
  • Stress can do alot of diffent things to your body. I would suggest doing stretches of the chest and stomach. When young men are "filling out" your chest grows the most because your shoulders strengthen and then your rib cage starts to expand and grow (if you are taking care of yourself). I would also do some running and make sure you are not doing the most common posture error(pulling your soulders together in front and holding your chin low). So run every other day for a couple of weeks, stretch every day and hold your posture good all day. That means shoulders back, chin up and not to sound femenin but when you bend over you should not care about your butt "sticking out". Stay loose and relax and never never clench because of stress. If that doesn't work, correct your diet, quit smoking and then when you feel you are doing everything in your power to take care of yourself, then go pay someone for health tips
