  • I am glad they have someone to help them, in their time of need.
  • I think there are people who legit need it or would starve to death and be homeless with it, there are people who legit need it and can't get it and there are your select few who screw the system and steal from it and make those who really do need it look bad. Not all people who need welfare are lazy bums who refuse to work. most are disabled, single moms, elderly, students, etc. Unfortunately when people say "welfare" people only think about those who are screwing the system and want to punish EVERYONE even those who legit need it.
  • i am jealous of them in a way but at the same time i don't want to use the system myself... mixed emotions i am sure that some of them really need it and some are abusing it
  • i am glad that there is something out there to keep them going... sometime in all are lifes especially the way the world and economy is heading we may all be on welfare and there is nothing wrong with it :)
  • There are many people who have worked and paid taxes and due to serious events in life might be on the program, im proud of us to have the system and help the people in need...those who take advantage its really sad and i think the department should follow up to see if they r really in need.
  • What are they to receive? Poverty! Remember:Tsadaka is a mood of tsadiks(good believers) Bless, Prof. Mes
  • That the system is flawed. I think that people who need help should be given help, and an incentive to help themselves. The way it is set up now, once you are on government aid it is very difficult to stop. In a lot of cases when you get a job it doesn't pay as much as the benefits you're receiving from the government, so it would be a step backward, and if you're barely scraping by on welfare, you won't survive with a job that pays less. People can't afford to better themselves.
  • I have had to use welfare... When my daughter was born and I had no insurance, we both needed to see the doctors ( which was imperitive) and I really had no choice... the benefits my job offered would take so much out of my paycheck that I literally wouldnt have been able to pay my bills..... There are definetly people who abuse the system and think its the norm to be on welfare, its a cycle and really hard for some people to get out of.. I pay for private insurance now and I honestly miss medicaid, it was the same coverage for FREE!!!! :(... they need to come up with some sort of universal healthcare for all americans!!
  • I think the system is seriously flawed. If someone is able to work -they should have to work. Im all for helping someone with daycare so they can work and affordable housing for single parents and disabled people. Nowadays there are too many people living off the taxpayers.
  • Their Lazy...they need to get off their asses and go get a job like everybody else and contribute to society.
  • I think welfare is a very necessary social outlet. Some people have no choice in their lives whereas others do. I read some of the previous comments about people being lazy, and people abusing the system, but it is easy to say something so generalized when you see yourself as on the outskirts of the issue. Truth is, poverty affects us all.
  • Look, it's like the Miranda rights. It's not for the guilty, it's for the innocent. It's there if you find yourself in need. It's not always your fault. Flawed? Sure. What isn't? But if life ever really gets you in a fix, you'll be glad it's there.
