Perhaps you are meeting the wrong type of people. Where are you looking for them - in bars? Well, of course you are going to meet a lot more people into "the scene" there.
If you don't like the people you are meeting, change things up. Seek out a group that does things you like, such as a running or board games group. Or, drop in on a discussion group. Trust me, this will have you meeting a whole different group of people.
