  • No, I don't feel it is the best form of discipline. I use spanking as a last resort and definetly not for every issue. I feel that some things deserve a spanking, i.e.lying, stealing. Some parents spank for everything but I personally don't give out the spankings every time something goes sour. If I did I would probably be spanking my kids round the clock...lol. Spankings are few and far in our house. Like I said, we reserve them for the worst cases.
  • No, it is not a good form of discipline at all. A spank might be easier/faster than a good explanation or something like "look at my dark eyes!".
  • By best I will assume that you mean most effective. It depends on the child. My sister and I were opposites when it came to discipline. For me it was spankings. I wouldn't listen to my parents so they would spank me when I was being bad. Spankings didn't really bother my sister and she wouldn't cry when spanked but she absolutely hated to have both her hands held in front of her by my parents. She didn't mind holding hands when she was being good but if she was bad she would start to cry as soon as my parents took her hands. So obviously this was more effective.
  • Not for children. It violates the verse in the bible that states Parents do not provoke your children to anger.
  • No single disciplinary tactic works on everyone. Spanking never worked on me, but my parents were brutal anyway, sometimes even making me bite down on something so my screaming wouldn't freak out the neighbors while they belted me over and over. That's not to say that moderate and controlled corporal punishment can't be effective. It's just not for everyone.
  • i dont agree with hitting children to hurt them, thats wrong on many levels.. spanking is good just to scare children out of bad habits.. you only need to give them a light tap on the ass.. nothing that will hurt them..
  • No I don't.
  • ...because, if you can't get the message through ONE end--go to the OTHER end!!!!
