I have a cocker spaniel. Well, actually the better way to say this is my wife and kids have a cocker spaniel; I just sit there and watch it pee on my carpet and then take her outside.

Thoughout my life I use to have a Jack Rustle Terrier named OJ, 5 turtles named after the ninja turtles (fifth one named venus) and I also had an African Grey by the name of Trouble.

When I get the chance I would like to raise a Argentinian Mastiff or another Jack Rustle Terrier and Maybe another parrot too.

Working to not neglet an animal can help in commitment skills not to mention a build in one's character.

I own a horse (half Arabian/half Quarter Horse) named April, a ferret named Sneefers, and some fish. I love my horse because she's tons of fun (almost literally..) as well as a means of transport. Sneefers is an awesome pet because she's so curious and funny. The fish are awesome because they're pretty.. of course.

I would love to have another dog, but my health prevents me from taking the care that they need, so I just enjoy my sister's cats and dogs when I am over there. She has one long hair cat and three Toy Rat Terriers. I dont want to have one if I cant care for it properly.

I own a Bichon Frise puppy. I am a first time dog owner. My husband technically bought it for my six year old, but since I am the feeder, he thinks he is MY dog. It is very much like a child in the respect that: IT IS A PAIN IN THE ASS TO TAKE CARE OF ANOTHER LIFE. On the other hand, I now know like dog owners have known for centuries, that LIKE a child, a dog can bring so much peace and happiness to a human life, that the benefits oftimes outweight the negatives.

Yes, a dog named Eboni. She is actually my son's dog, but since I'm dis-abled, she got attached to me. I call her Eb. She is a black terrier mix with white paws.
I fought my son for several year's on getting one, because I knew he wasn't ready for it. I finally gave in, and it was the best thing I have ever done. I have never been so attached to an animal, (and I've had many), and didn't think I could get this attached to one. She is really my buddy.

Hannah my personal dog, a Shepsky nutcase that is too smart for my own good. Patch the family Parson's Jack R (a rescue that is about 5 of the most NEEDY dogs you'll ever meet rolled into one. Four cats...Shasta, orange DSH...12 Huge social butterfly, Sam 10, a black DSH w/slightly longer hair..a total reclusive fellow (originally feral) bonded to my partner's son. Sadie, 5, adopted from Stray Cat Blues a DSH tuxedo Queen...probably an exotic dancer in her last life (a bit on the dom side too.."I love you, I love you, SLAP!!..one of her favorite games to play! And Sipper the youngest at 2 1/2 another tuxedo Queen..loves to be petted but not held, a park rescue, loves to sip her water from the bathroom sink.

Emily, an 8 yr old Congo African Gray parrot (talks A LOT!) and Jazz a 10 or 12 year old Sun Conure...we are Jazz's 4 family and although we were told Jazz was a male, SHE laid her first egg earlier this past spring! Better diet and Emily was busy laying so that may have stimulated what ever Jazz had available to come on out. (like humans, Birds have all the eggs they will ever have from birth.)

Each one adds something wonderful to our lives, I personally can not be without a dog, but each of these beauties is FAMILY in their own unique way. They give love and they accept love...and that's the best family of all in many ways to me...it's the IDEAL to strive for.

To everyone who has a pet: You lucky ass!!!

I want a pet soo bad, but my parents won't let me have one. When I asked for a dog, mom said
dad doesn't like dogs, so I can't have one. And then I asked if I can have a goldfish, but then she said that I'm not responsible, and too lazy to take care of a pet, let alone myself. End of story.

Hopefully I will get one when I move into my own house. :D

I just gave away my dog. She was a german shepard/doberman mix... Beautiful and loyal. I had to give her up cuz it wasn't fair to either of us because I didn't have the time to spend with her. I spend months at a time on the road and when I am home, I'm either rehearsing or sleeping... She was more than a lap dog and needed someone that could be more consistent.

Right now, at my appartment, I have a young m-hair cat named Paleo. I used to have three other cats (silver tabby, tabby, and calico), but they're now living with my ma'. Earless, my 20 y-old precious recently died...he was the best. :)

In the past, I've have a few cats and dogs that are no longer with my family.
    Trapper(common name for a dog),
    Tigger(black lab, named from 'whiney-the-poo'),
Jenny(really gentle lab that died of cancer),
    Lucky(not the happiest of cats)
    Cidney(feline)
Twister and Tornado(sort-of roamed into our property a while back)
    Spider(beautiful all-black long-haired kitten...died of crystals in his bladder)
    Iggy(an iguana)

It's sad how many times we have to tollerate the loss of pets. I've always wondered if the cost is greater then the rewards.

I have and presently own only 1 golden LABRADOR retriever dog. Although I've owned a cat as well in the past, I presently do not own a cat. Due to asthma issues, I had to stop owning one. Dogs didn't affect the breathing any...as long as the vacuum picked up the most of the dog hairs, it doesn't matter, but cats are another story.
