If I am correct, embalmed is like mummified, and there are such bodies in Mexico as well as Egypt that have lasted more than 1000 years like that. If you are interested you might even travel to Guanajuato, Mexico to take a tour in the subterranean chambers where they are kept.

Actually, modern embalming accelerates decomp. Tissue is virtually gone in about 8 years usually. But the bones will last thousands of years.
