You need to go look up something called "RadioLab" I think you can find it at radiolab.org but I don't know for sure (and I'm too lazy to doublecheck) It's produced for National Public Radio in New York. They just did a show about that very proposition. It was really cool!

Yes, a human-chimpanzee hybrid is possible? Actually it wouldn't be too hard to try it. We do in vitro fertilization all the time. All you have to do is mix human sperm and chimpanzee egg or vice versa and see if the egg is fertilized. No need to bring it to term. Because it is so easy to do, I think it must have been done already and the result must have been successful but no one wanted to own up to doing such a thing as it would upset a lot of people. Also - there is George W. Bush as futher proof...
