Told best friend I like her, she says no, oddly we become closer than ever, 8 months later she still doesnt like me like that, college is coming up do I keep trying for 4 more years or end it, both would be extremely painful, will she ever come around?

Probably not. She's probably happy with the amount of attention and care that you're showing her now. She's probably getting what she wants - kindness, understanding and a feeling of being desirable - without being put in a committed relationship. I say probably because I was in your situation a couple of times when I was in high school, so I'm making some assumptions. I'm not saying you're wrong to be kind to her, quite the opposite, in fact! But you have to understand that she's getting what she wants without having to put in the next step, while you're giving up everything and are unlikely to get what you want. You don't need to end the relationship, but you need to come around to the idea that there are plenty of other women out there. Adjust your expectations for this one, continue to treat her with kindness but go looking elsewhere for love. Best advice I can give, man.
