  • If I could... Everyone would worship me. I would be God. That is if I could and it was so...
  • What an awesome question. My new religion would not worship a god or creator. It would worship the beauty of science in nature and the amazing capabilities of the human mind. It would be very philosophical, and the meetings would include discussions about the purpose and origin of life. However, this religion would not teach or impose any explanations on its followers. Instead, it would encourage the followers to discover and share their own unique feelings and ideas.
  • Oh God, NO!! Please, that's all we need here on AB -- another religion to argue about! :-) Ok, let's see. A serious answer, or a whimsical answer? A serious answer might be interesting, but will almost surely result in the dreaded religious wars re-igniting after nearly 15 minutes of Peace. A whimsical answer would be fun, perhaps, but then the Questioner (who is, curiously enough -- named "The Answerer") might be miffed at not getting a serious response. I guess I'll compromise with a Knock-Knock joke. This one's a little different -- you have to start it. I'll wait...
  • I would not be so presumptuous as to claim the authority to start a new religion unless God called upon me to do so. If such a thing were to happen, then it would be up to Him to direct me as to what the religion would be. *************** "ptrask: Maybe this question was god calling on you to create a religion!" "Stableboy: Good point. They say he speaks in strange ways. Who says the clouds have to open up?" If it was God calling on me to create a new religion, then why did He not give direction as to what that religion should be? My God is a god of order and truth. He would not call a mere mortal to start new religion without giving him directions. It is because mere mortals have interpreted His word without His guidance that we have so many religions in the world as it is. ************** "ptrask: You seem to have pretty good knowledge of what god thinks. How do you know she is a god of order and truth? Maybe he is a god of chaos and deception. Being god, she has the choice to be whatever she wants. Maybe he would use a "mere mortal" as the creative force to get her will done. As a mere mortal, how would you know if god would decide to use AnswerBag to contact the next messiah?" "tripwire: Hmmm, GB...you've really got a handle on the nature of God! How do you even know it's a male entity? What makes you think a god would actually need anything to begin with? It seems the world is hooked on the idea of a "needy god" Already my god, pwns that one, just by not needing anything, and therefore not having a reason to judge or condemn anything for a perceived failure to fulfill those needs." I will just write this and then drop this topic as i get the impression that you two are just trying to argue and don't respect the beliefs of others. What you need to know about the nature of God is revealed in scriptures. I refer to Him as a using the masculine pronouns because that is what the scriptures use. If God were female, then the scriptures would have use the feminine designations. She would have been referred to as our Mother in Heaven. That is not how the scriptures refer to God. Therefore, God is not female. I know that there are those that argue that this wording is just a function of the male dominated society in which these scriptures were written. However, I don't buy that argument because I don't believe God would have hesitated to correct such an error if it were an error. This is all I am going to write on this. You are free to believe as you wish, as am I.
  • Quaker Buddhists
  • The church of the earth. We would worship trees --- animals etc.
  • Scientology - oh wait, L. Ron hubbard already made that one up.
  • This planet needs another religion like it needs an asteroid impact! But, if I were pressed to invent a new religion, I'd make sure it had the following characteristics: Recognition of, and respect for human diversity. No Judgment or moral polarization! No concept of "sin" and subsequent punishment! (Only a realization of functionality) No obligation whatsoever to anyone to act on "god's " behalf. No idea implanted into peoples minds that they are "Evil" and in need of salvation. (By way of this church or other) No claim to be the only way for people to get to wherever it is they dream of going, thus eliminating intolerance of other beliefs. No attempt to influence politics or social trends through spiritual blackmail. Well....I'm sure this religion would have a snowball's chance in hell here on this planet, because there's way too much fear controlling the actions of most people, but one day perhaps, when we learn to think for ourselves, instead of allowing others to dictate so called "truth" to us, we'll have a chance.
  • Orthodox Jehovists--an evangelical denomination that would steal the thunder from Jehovah's Witnesses by using the name Jehovah a lot, but still have its other doctrines orthodox. (Actually, the name Jehovah should probably be pronounced "yahVEH" with a short E. "Jehovah" is an absolutely impossible pronunciation, and even the Witnesses agree with that, but they still do it. If I was God, I wouldn't like it if people intentionally mispronounced my name all the time!)
  • If I could make a new religion, I wouldn't (incidentally though, if I HAD to make one, I'm sure it would involve tequila, badgers and mustard thrown in there somewhere)
  • "The Cult of the Only One Life Believers" It would teach to its followers that life is one and only one and have to be focused on maximize their happiness, because there will be no other chance. The rest would happen just by chain reaction.
  • anyone can just up and start there own religion. Like Anton LaVey for example, who started LaVeyan Satanism. I follow LaVey and Satanism is the perfect religion for me.
  • I already did and the membership is restricted to one; me. I believe what I want to believe, am dead-set against dogma, and think that anybody who believes that I have any religious authority as even the lowest level of clergy is a dangerously unbalanced individual. If you happen to agree with my philosophy then start your own religion of one. :)
  • The religion that only allows you to eat non-nutritious food. I call it...THE religion.
  • A relgion of recommendations (that you not accept until you've tried) that reconcile the effect of mass media on your central nervous system with the navigation of the unknown factors in your daily life. After all, mass media is more and more comprising our sense of community, the thing into which we find ourselves woven. And there is little framework for us to reference when going back to work to deal with that one grouchy guy we cannot stand. These two dynamics can take thousands of other forms or examples in anyone's life. Christianity doesn't, not even buddhism really address this. Fake community indoctrination (media) to real community results (people you deal with). And the technology is only going to become more immersive and ubiquitous. The relations at work more estranged. Ew. And the very fact that you are on a computer right now reading about the conjecturing of a new religion proves my point.
  • to worship our animals. To be one with them.
  • "THE COMMON SENCE RELIGION" Based around one principle - treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. as humans (good or bad) we all feel pain whether physical or emotional. if we all truly had to reap the consequences of our actions i believe that we would see change as we would have to self regulate.
  • I'm not sure, but it would involve lots of nudity.
  • Christianity!!!! I wouldn't create any other religion, there is already a true one!!
  • anti huminism
  • I would make a religion that was free of social restictions. One that would attact all,and people not be coerced into it like religions of today. It would teach of love for all,and that all creatures were equal.Mankind would relenquish the claim over mother earth like they owned it ,and could distroy it.God would be niether male or female, free of wrath and judgement.Man would not classify themseves as sinners from some original sin.Meditation on the self and mostly self reflection would be the tenets or suggested practice. The relationship between mankind would be taught on love and trust.Helping the unfortunate to help themselves would be taught.People don't want handout they want opportunity, for there is more than enough for all.
  • It would be a religion void of all and any beliefs. Our only governing rule would be: Don't believe in belief.
  • I don't know all the details, I never really thought into any excruciating detail or anything, but it would probably be everything I believe in now... only minus the lack of open-mindedness and without all of the disgusting judgment that sends so many people away. Accept all people regardless of what their past is like, what they partake in outside of their religious life, and who they look upto for guidance. Religion should not be used as a filter or deterrent against people who do not share the exact same beliefs with you.
  • It would involve the deification of me.
  • Veritology. Devise an unverifiable alien event that predates mankind and then devise a series of expensive courses that would allow dysfuntional humans to rid themselves of the ghostly hauntings from the unverfiable alien event that are clearly causing their dysfuntion. You'll be rich! You could have zippy little paramilitary uniforms and speak in acronyms and...oh...waitasec. Dang. Someone beat you to it.
  • Mine would be a knock off of Scientology but we would laugh at our own idiotcy. As a non-profit organization, our churches could then pool their resources to create our own country. Then we could militarize production and take care of world affairs ourselves. I would stand in as Pope/supreme dictator. Hmmm...that's more of a cult.
  • it would be called the believe it when i see it religion. You can always believe there is a god ,but when u die and go to heaven then its a good thing.I believe in god ,just havent been to church in awhile.
  • In the USA, since that's where I am, I would start a political off-shoot of activist Christians. Not like the ones I see now with only two important to them issues (abortion and gay marriage)... but one based on trying to make the teachings of Christ reality, like feeding the poor, helping the needy, working as peacemakers, etc. Actually there is a movement like that, loosely called the Red Letter Christians (meaning they want to do what Jesus said, in many Bibles marked by red letters). But we still only hear about political Christians being the ones with the two burning issues Jesus never addressed at all, abortion and gay marriage. I'm a Christian now and I hate it that anyone might think I'm like the squeaky wheels in the news.
  • My religion would encourage learning and setting up beliefs for yourself. It would teach to be open to ideas but to never easily abandon yours unless the reason is your own.
  • buddism took my ideas for the most part
  • Haoieanitity.
  • "Ecce Homo" = "Behold: The Man"
  • Panthology.
