Help answer this question below.
I use them all the time. Problem is I can't keep up. they keep adding new ones. but it sure beats having to write out the words.
They're alright, but some (like lol) are just too overused and they bug the hell out of me. Personally, I don't use them. I'm too much of a grammar nut. Generally, as long as people don't say lol after everything anyone says and as long as they NEVER SAY THEM IN A REAL LIFE CONVERSATION OUTSIDE OF THE INTERNET I'm okay with them.
they`r good
I use them all the time online, but I don’t think they have any place in formal writing (e.g. Australian standardized testing).
LOL on the clip, tho! :-D
I think they are fine as long as I know what they mean! :)
W t i g.
I don't mind them and I only really use lol when I don't want to continue a conversation or have no idea what to say to something. I find that most the time i just type it all out but miss a letter here or there to speed up my answer. I like some abbreviations just because of the sheer length and pointlessness of them though.
it saves me credit.it does have its ADS and DISADS...(advantages and disavantages).
imho they f***ing suck. I hate them and the stupid language they create. I particularly hate people who use them instead of words out loud in real life.
I have a problem with them because I don't understand any of them. I don't ever text any messages, so I haven't had any opportunity to learn any of the shortcuts. I can type fast enough to type the whole words faster than I could decide what shortcuts to use.
Personally, I hate them and shorthand. To me, it makes people look uneducated, they can't even take out a few seconds to write the word.
Very useful and easier on the fingers.
I'm mostly ok with them, but it sucks when you don't know what one means... (in that case Google or Wikipedia come to save the day, again)
TRGILTALAPTUTED (They are great and i plan on using them every day)
I think they are amusing....
It works fine for me.
I didnt mind them... right up until my 14 year old cousin got an F on her school report and didnt understand why
Hilarious video. But i really don;'t mind them.I use them alot.
These abbreviations kill good English and spoil the spirit of seriousness in expression.
NBD for anyone who ever read a PMS card to do an 18M1 or followed an EOSS to shift loads between an EDG and an SSTG.
I like them in moderation I guess. Too many makes it look like you just can't spell
I like to hahaha, when I laugh, I tryed lol, but it reminded me of chatrooms, BTW, is okand OMG, I guess , I learn them from my granddaughter,:)
And then there was this.
Probably the best, most convenient way to express abstract ideas and emotions over text which our faces and voices would normally convey. Do get used a lot, probably more than they should, but work well in determining the sense of a phrase, sarcasm, playfulness, anger, etc.
