Hello...I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd answer it anyway!

Florian Leopold Grassman (a Bohemian opera composer) between the baroque and classical eras)invited Salieri to attend the court in Vienna in 1766, and trained him in composition based in Johann Joseph Fux's "Gradus ad Parnassum". Salieri remained in Vienna for the rest of his life. After Gassmann's death, Salieri was appointed court composer by Emperor Joseph II...was married in 1774 and had 8 children. In 1788 he became Royal and Imperial Kappellmeister (meaning the person in charge of music making!).

You probably already learned this answer, but I thought I throw in my two cents anyway!

    Cheers!
