Help answer this question below.
I work at a alcohol and drug addiction center and like to think i know some about addictions.....
5 years later after doing ecstasy your body should be rid of it. Its not quite the same as lsd where it stays in your body for a long long time. In fact, even if you do a lot of e the longer you go without doing it the more your brain will rebuild the parts that it lost from the drugs.
It could be that when you were doing e it was kind of a self medicating way for you to feel better. A lot of times people will take drugs to make them feel better, forget... .and so on -- and then when they are not on drugs anymore those sad feelings come back again. Maybe do some research on depression? If you feel its serious go see a professional for an assessment - no agreement needed to take medication. You can even find some psychiatrists who are against a lot of medicine and look for other options. And go ahead and try john's wart, or exercising which could make you feel better too.
Also - it could be you're just going through a moody time and in a couple weeks/months, even after a good talk with a friend you could feel a lot better! :) Whatever it is try to come out of you funk and think of some reasons to smile!
Hope you feel better soon!
It might or it might not... people who don't take ecstasy can often get depressed (what I believe you're feeling) as well.
Yes ecstasy does make you feel depressed as you "come down" but since it's been 5 years I'm not sure if it's related.
So don't beat yourself up about it (very important in lifting your mood). Try Saint John's wort! I hear it helps a lot of people... also look to other natural mood boosters (do some research on plants, teas, natural medicines).
Acupuncture can help. It helps me. If you are scared don't worry it does NOT hurt it's kind of like going to the spa.
Be careful if you go to a doctor or psychiatrist (I for one would not want to take drugs as they can make it worse over the long term, and some are rather fast to prescribe them - that's what they're trained to do). However in drastic situations I know drugs can help too.
This kind of feeling happens to a lot of people, sometimes in young women like me and (I'm assuming) you, it can be hormone related. (IE - estrogen/ progesterone imbalance). It can happen because of contraceptive pills, or other reasons.
Again, NO beating yourself UP! What you did was in the past (and as weird as this must sound, probably the "right" thing spiritually for you at the time - Why? Because you did it! So I'm sure you had a lot of experiences that perhaps you were meant to have.) Now you are in a different phase of your life and must focus on healing yourself...
Good luck!
there's nothing you can do to reverse it, but the following things will help:
1) 5HTP (it's a vitamin, you get it anywhere vitamins are sold- it's a precursor to serotonin)
2) A regular sleep schedule (go to bed same time, wake up same time every day) of at least 10 hours (it'll help re-stabilize the chemical balance of your brain)
3) a healthy diet and exercise (also helps chemical balance, it'll help your body regenerate it's faculties)
definitely try St. John's wort too, but the other stuff is even better
if you have a day that's particularly bad, eat a little bit of extra dark chocolate (it also helps regulate serotonin, seriously!)
I don't just think, it is related.
yes try it'

You're reading 5 years ago I did a lot of ecstasy pills. These days I get down a lot. Feel sad. Depressed. Indecisive. Do you think these are related? Can I do anything to feel better? I heard st. john's wort may help?
