Each team only has one closer. However, they have several other relief pitchers, like the set-up man, for the 8th inning, usually. There are other relief pitchers who can go 2-3 innings.

You're reading Im kinda new to BB. How do they decide which closer to use? Im a Red Sox fan and I dont know why thye seem to use Paplebon only when they are winning.
