Yes. Could you imagine the same logic applied to other areas? "What is that?! Are you smoking POT?!" 'Yea dad, I bought it with my own money.' "Oh, OK then..."

your parents are your boss and as long as you live in their home they can do whatever the hell they want unless their actions are illegal, stopping you from using your laptop that you paid for doesnt break any laws that iv ever heard of. lol dont think you would get very far infront of a judge complianing that your parents took your laptop away because you wouldnt behave or go to bed etc etc. if you mean they want to use your laptop and you dont want them to well i guess the same applies, their house, their rules and whos electric do you use to charge it.

Or at least power of veto.

Yes, dear. If you aren't managing your time, or aren't acutally paying thie electric bill, or you have been caught with drugs, or any other thing that sends up red flags, then they have the right to intervene and straighten you out. It's called parenting.

Since you live in their house, they are responsible for making, and enforcing rules. Nothing wrong with having a computer, but the parents are still going to apply their house rules to any situation at home, but they just want to protect you.
