Our DVD burner on my gateway 2002 computer isnt letting up burn anything. its updated to XP and its crashed a few times within that time of attempting. Whats the best way to fix it but also not lose any info we have on there?

    It depends on whether or not your drive is reading or operating at all. If it is reading a disc, then your problem can probably be fixed. If it's not even reading anything then I suggest you first try to upgrade the driver for your drive by either going to the manufacturer's website, or go to Windows Update which might provide you with new drivers. If that still doesn't fix your problem, you should probably just buy a new drive. They're not that expensive for what you are probably doing. You shouldn't have to spend more than $50 on a new one, and you can typically find them much cheaper than that.
