  • I think +R or +RW means you can re-record over and over on the same DVD and just R means you can only record once. However, I'm not the best person to be answering this because I bought a DVD recorder in August and havn't managed to work it yet!
  • If a recorder is able to record on +R (called plus R) and -R (called dash R), you should see no difference. The two formats exist largely because two competing consortiums developed them.
  • to be honest with you you need to know the compatibility for your dvd recorder the manual should tell you if you can use dvd-r or dvd+r or both. As far as what the answer the other person gave you make sure when choosing r or rw which is writable and re-writable; meaning one is to copy on only and the other you can copy on and copy over, make sure the name brand is compatible with your name brand dvd player. I know this because i've just recently installed one to my dvd player and all name brand blank dvd's was not compatible with my device.
