My favorite roadtrip was when I sold my first home and took off on my bike(long since wrecked) and rode through all but about 10 states for several months. It was the best bad time I ever had..LOL

Through Arkansas and Tennessee all the way to the Great Smokeys. It was a blast! It was August and we went from 110 degrees to 80 degrees and increased our altitude by several thousands of feet. Free food and digs from cousins and friends. We camped out in the open air at 68 degrees at night in the mountains. Much good music played and heard at the folk festival for a whole week. Then...we stayed...(lol)

In '78 one-way to Bezerkeley, where I ended up living! ;-)

700 miles on a spur of the moment decision to my alma mater for a football game. Then there was that trip to wine country when I was in San Fran with my ex wife and that school parking lot we pulled into.....but I think the football game was better.

In 1983, I went to Hyder, AK., on a motorcycle. It was a two week vacation that started and ended in SoCal. Great trip !

On my last on-my-own vacation before I got married I put a cooler full of pepsi in the front seat and pointed the car that way. Within a few hours I came across a little burg called Morro Bay in California. Wound up spending three days there doing nothing and loving it. Eventually headed out and did the Hearst Castle tour, then up to Monterey for a couple of days in the Aquarium. That was my favorite vacation of all time. Nothing planned, nothing expected.
