  • In the Church of LDS (I'm looking at the category you posted this question under) it is called the Celestial Kingdom.
  • Celestial
  • In LDS theology, there are 3 levels in heaven. It comes from 1 Cor. 15:40-41
  • Perhaps a little "evolution" Mr/Ms evolusean for your theology and literacy may help. If Mormons who claim to be Christian want to describe "the top level of heaven" they can start with what they say they accept the OT and NT (Hebrew and Christian Bible) as well as Joseph Smith's Church of JC of LDS Book of Mormon add-ons to those sacred texts which flatly contradicts the basics of the NT about the identity of Jesus Christ and God-Man, the Virgin Birth, and the Father, Son and Spirit. After a little humor on our part about the un-funny recent election TV, radio spots, we gave some of those answers based on the earlier texts. Being called "smart guy" after your dismissive comment shows your attitude and level of literacy and presumption that the LDS is somehow NOT actually part of the Jewish-Christian story. • [barjacob] BTW, I am not a mormon but this information is from their own scriptures. Here is an excerpt from one of the Mormon Scriptures called "Doctine and Covenants" (this talks about the different levels of heaven within the Celestial Glory or Kingdom: THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS SECTION 131 Instructions by Joseph Smith the Prophet, given at Ramus, Illinois, May 16 and 17, 1843. HC 5: 392–393. 1–4, Celestial marriage is essential to exaltation in the highest heaven; 5–6, How men are sealed up unto eternal life; 7–8, All spirit is matter. 1 In the acelestial glory there are three bheavens or degrees; 2 And in order to obtain the ahighest, a man must enter into this border of the cpriesthood [meaning the new and deverlasting covenant of emarriage]; 3 And if he does not, he cannot obtain it. 4 He may enter into the other, but that is the end of his kingdom; he cannot have an aincrease. Being exalted means that you have reached the highest level or heaven in the Celestial Kingdom and at this point you will have obtained god status. You will be able to live eternally with your sealed wife and be able populate other planets that you may have made/not made with your spirit children. This is the goal of every faithful mormon. ************************************************************* The top level of Heaven is called the Celestial Kingdom. Within this kingdom, there are also another 3 levels that one must progress through and reach the highest in order to be exalted.
  • One gets to heaven by a free gift from Jesus the Christ. The actual conduct required of one is found in the Gospel, four accounts, and teased out in Paul's letters and the other letters which address issues and failures of the young Church, and Acts which shows how they lived. The heart of the Gospel is Compassion as your heavenly Father is compassionate- rain falls on the good and bad, we as humans want "them" not to have any rain! Forgiving one's enemies is at the heart of that compassion, the only religion in the world demanding that. Matthew 25 spells out ways we find Jesus- in the poor, hungry, sick and in prison, what is done to them is done to HIM. The Beatitudes in Matthew 5 and Luke 4 and the commentary on them, esp. in Mt, make it clear that the 10 Commandments were minimal, the Beatitudes go way beyond bare legal survival law. Jesus said there were many Mansions, so there are grades but nothing as I said above about stages to get to the top. That is done here below as the Old Person is repalced by being Christ-like, and the final cleansing/purifying process- fire as in cleaning metal, not as in punishing, is after death, called Purgatory- cleanseing- in the ancient Tradition, so only an all-holy person enters God's sight, not just forgiven, but wholly clean, purified of all sinful traits as was Christ.

  • The Highest level of heaven is the Celestial Kingdom, which can only be reached by a certain way. To be in the Celestial Kingdom is to be in the Presence of God again, and the Telestial Kingdom is to be cut off from Gods presence, but still in the Presence of Jesus Christ. Lastly, is the Terestial Kingdom, which may be visited by Jesus. Now, the Terestial Kingdom, I don't quite know off the top of my head how to label, but it is the belief of mormons that you can only obtain Celestial Glory by fulfilling all rituals, temple marriage, and such. No one can reach Celestial Glory individually, only as a family. Now, we practice Baptism for the dead, and sealings for the dead, and it is the desire of the church that all families, across all time, have the oportunity to receive ordinances. We believe that those that didn't receive the knowledge of the gospel, are taught in the spirit world, and that many are waiting for the ordinances to be worked for them. People try to say that Mormon's believe only Mormon's can obtain Celestial Glory, but it is, in truth, our desire that ALL have the opportunity.
