  • No. the officer can correct it in court. the only real requirements for a traffic citation are....did you violate a traffic law on a given date and time? the citation is just a courtesy, given at the time of the offense. At the time the citation was given, the officer was not under oath. the both of you will be in traffic court and you will have the opportunity to explain your question. Warning. if you do go to court and are found guilty, the fine and court cost could be higher, rather than paying the ticket outright or agree to attend a 4 hour defensive driving course. i would opt to attend the defensive driving class. once completed, your citation will be dismissed, providing you qualify. and, your auto insurance and drivers license will avoid points added.
