It's rather easy as long as you are a skilled worker with a least one year of employment. The CIC has a list of skills that the government is looking for and a score associated with them. You will need paperwork proving your skill. You will also need a savings account showing that you have the financial means to keep yourself from being a burden on Canadian society while looking for work, since you aren't eligible for public assistance. You will also need to prove that you are in good health as no immigrants are allowed that would be a burden on our health-care system.

The high commission will have information on how the scoring works. Speaking English natively already gives you points. Your education and skills add more. Bilingualism (English/French) adds even more. The CIC has information on their website on some of the scoring of potential immigrants.

Easy, contact the Canadian High Commission in London and request an application form. For UK citizens with skills it is fairly straightforward.
