I was out jogging and swooped down on a wallet that was just lying on the road. I Opened it up, and it had over $800 cash in it, and a drivers license. Long story short, I resisted the temptation to keep it, and went and tracked the owner down from the address on the license, to gave it back to him. It was a good feeling to see the initial look of suspicion on his face turn to joy when he opened it up and saw that all the money was still there. Then he whipped out a 100 dollar bill and gave it to me! Sweet!

I found $16 in my jacket pocket.

Although it may have been my own $16 that I had forgotten about...it still felt good to find it.

One day I was in Catos to get a belt and I lost my friggin 20 dollars. So I went home and mom gave me 20 more dollars to go get the belt. But before I went back to Catos, I decided to go tanning. I lost 16 of the 20 dollars somewhere between getting out of my car and getting to the tanning bed. A couple weeks later I found 100 dollars outside of Catos. (Coincidence? I think not.) Unfortunatly, I told my cousin I saw it and she she went and picked it up and since she was their I had to split it. I went in Catos, brought 2 belts, a nose ring, and a bracelet. (:

To this day, this one remains the most amazing money find story for me.
I was living in Perth Australia, and me and some of my friends were sharing a house out by Scarborough Beach. Anyway, I was totally broke one day, (not even on cent) everyone else was out, and I was starving. I remember I walked out of our house and down the front path to the gate, and was standing just outside on the sidewalk thinking to myself, "Oh man wouldn't it be great to find some money on the ground today of all days!!"
I looked down and ( I swear this is true!!) there on the ground right between my feet was a brand new, crisp $50 note!! I was absolutely gobsmacked!! That turned out to be a really good day!!

I was 9 years old and found $11.00 at a putt-putt. I turned it in with my name. About a week later the owner of the putt-putt called to say no one had claimed it so he let me have it. I thought I was rich and spent countles hours trying to decide how to spend my whopping $11.00. I mean, I got like $1.00/week allowance so this was a fortune! LOL

I am a 50 yr old white woman (clean, corporate type) and this experience happened less than a month ago. I was laid off back in August 2009 and was receiving unemployment compensation. In November 2009 someone broke into my car and stole my unemployment check in the amount of $494.00 causing me great harm! I was so angry at the thought of someone taking the only money I had that I went for a walk to clear my head. While I was walking aimlessly thru a parking lot I stumbled upon a corporate check which was signed and dated but had not been made out to anyone. The check was in the amount of $5.054.00. Had I been dishonest, I could have put my name in the maker's line and cashed the check especially as desperate as I was without any money in my pocket and I didnt know how long it was going to take for Unemployment to reissue me the check that someone had stolen from me. But being that I am honest, I called several different phone numbers until I found the corporate office the company check belonged to and offered to return the check. It turned out that the manager of that corporate office was the person who had signed the check. The manager said he would pick it up and rushed over to do so. He drove up in a nice BMW 760 LI. I made him ID himself and compared his ID to the signature on the check. He grabbed the check out of my hand and offered NO THANKS, NO REWARD.. NOTHING! Instead of being grateful for the return of the check, he gave me a rather suspicious attitude as if I had done something wrong. UNGRATEFUL JERK!!! I told him I was in sales, had just lost my job and needed to work. HE DENIED ME EMPLOYMENT!!! After all was said and done it dawned on me that he may have been trying to embezzle money from his company and didnt realize he had dropped the check. When I found it and called his company regarding it, it may have raised eyebrows as to why he had endorsed a blank check.

The most I lost was a little over a grand.

The most I found was, if equated to pounds, would be around two and a half grand. *smiles*

I was like 8 years old and found a film case with a 5 dollar bill and some change in it. I was so happy to go straight to the arcade and enjoy my new found, heaven sent prize. I didn't have a care in the world.

Once I found a $20 bill on the ground. I was in college, and normally would not have been going back in my dorm through that entrance, but a friend of mine in another dorm was going home for the weekend, and when her mom saw me she offered me a ride back to the dorm. She dropped me off out back since that is where the parking lot is, and the $20 bill was sitting right there on the ground when I got out of the car.

And the dumb thing is that my friend was actually kind of pissed when I had told her about it, because I found the money and she didn't. That really surprized and disappointed me.

I found a wad of cash on the floor at a store- a total of $1000. I turned it in to the store management. waited around to see if anyone claimed it. about 20 minutes later A guy was asking if anyone found it. the manager said yes and told him I found it and turned it in. he looked at me for a millisecond and turned back to the manager took the cash and walked out. NEVER even acknowledged me. No thank you or nothing. GRRRR! Nice guys finish last.
