  • This is going to sound kind of funny, but I worked in a catering company for a brief stint in high school to make some extra money. My parents knew the owner of the company, so despite not having any experience, I was able to proudly wear my bow tie. The rewarding experience wasn't exactly flipping the crabcakes while eager guests awaited the tasty treat. (I swear, I sure was popular though - LOL!) The great thing was being able to participate in these joyous occasions. Even though I wasn't a guest at this important event, I still felt drawn into the beauty and excitement of a true festivity. One particular event comes to mind. A wedding at a very old southern plantation mansion right on the water. It was breezy. I remember how beautiful it was. The tent was set up for the wedding, and the crab cakes were a-sizzling. I'll never forget that particular wedding. Maybe it was the couple, or the scenery, or the smell when it started to rain and it was pouring on the water and all around the tent. All I know is, whenever I hear the song "Dancing Cheek to Cheek", I remember the band playing this for that couple and feel so grateful that I could be part of such a beautiful, romantic thing.
