Weak sauce theologically, but they do great things for humanity. They walk the walk better than most religions, but I fail to understand their reasons for doing so.

It's great freedom is both its greatest asset and its greatest weakness. By pushing no official beliefs (creed), it is among the most accepting and open religious groups in the world. This is great if your neighbors are well educated, thoughtful and open minded. If they were all right wing creationists, though for instance, they could steer the congregation and sermons in that direction. And there's a congregation in downtown Boston with pink walls wherein one would feel out of place unless he joins the gay men's chorus. So there's no "quality control" nationally, you never really know what to expect in a Unitarian Universalist congregation.

Generally, I like it. I'm Wiccan and my husband is Pagan, but we attend and are very involved in a UU church. The only thing that tends to get on my nerves at times is that people can bring too much of their politics and partisan issues in church. We're also Republican, and think it is a shame that liberalism is overtaking free thinking in UU churches.
