*edit* I misread the question. I thought said "Which US states are tax free?" Because there aren't any that are tax free.. there may be a few that have no SALES tax.. but the still have taxes of some sort..

Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon. Hawaii has no consumer sales tax, the tax is only levied on businesses. As for state income tax, there is no state income tax in Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. Additionally, New Hampshire and Tennessee only tax dividends and interest. Alaska actually pays its citizens money through a pension program due to their substantial income from oil pipeline fees.

Some food products and prescription drugs are exempt from state sales tax, but this varies from state to state. The Sales Tax Clearinghouse notes that Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon have no state sales tax. But even though the state doesn't tax retail sales, individual counties and cities are sometimes allowed to collect sales tax.
