  • Yes, its a voluntary commitment for evaluation. need to go?
  • What actually happens is a person will go to the nearest hospital for any kind of mental health issues and or drug/alcohol abuse etc. They must be medically cleared thru the ER doc, then evaluated by a mental health counselor. If the person has attempted suicide, the hospital can Section twelve them and they cannot leave till they are safe. But if someone is just depressed or having problems, and they have beds, they might take you or have you see you on an outpatient basis. Commitment is only done by a family member, in the Courts to have someone committed if they are a danger to themselves and others. If a person goes in voluntarily for whatever issues and decides to leave, they must sign an AMA (against medical advice) so that the hospital is not at fault if something happens to that patient.
