  • You may want to check www.tripadvisor.com for information. I really enjoyed the incline plane. I also loved the beautiful botanical gardens there. If you go to Monroeville there are two fabulous Hindu temples that look like you are in India.
  • Black Friday is about as bad as it gets for seeing the rude side of Americans in public in a shopping environment. I hope that you are not driving. You do not even want to drive around a shopping mall in the US on Black Friday. On the other hand, if a friend takes you to the mall, and you can get up at 4:30 am and get to the stores when they open at 5 am or at 6am. You will find some unbelievable bargains, especially at stores like “Best Buy”. How will you know which stores to go to for the incredible buys? Check out this Website: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/ Pittsburgh is a great “blue colar city” and the people there are great. Best Views: The top of the US Steel Building and from the Incline Two “Things to do” that I highly recommend: The Duquesne Incline. Which provides a wonderful view from a century-old cable car traveling between West Carson Street and restaurants on Mount Washington. And the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. On The University of Pittsburgh campus. The 13-room Victorian Glasshouse featuring orchids, palms, butterflies and seasonal flower shows. A good place for lunch or dinner would be the Spaghetti Warehouse at 2601 Smallman St in Pittsburgh. http://www.meatballs.com/location_results.cfm?State=PA&City=Pittsburgh&Concept=SWH&start=1 http://www.visitpittsburgh.com/packages/index.cfm?action=View&packageid=135&catid=6
  • South Side is pretty nice. It's an old downtown area on E Carson St. with a mix of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. Don't even THINK about parking there on black friday. Also bring a detailed map because Pittsburgh has a rather convoluted road system. Get around by public transportation if at all reasonable. On the bright side, it's a small city and you always have landmarks to keep oriented by, so you can't really get lost, but it can be tough to get to anything quickly. Overall about Pittsburgh: think mountains, rivers, bridges and football everywhere.
  • How wonderful! Pittsburgh's a great city with a lot to see and do. For Black Friday shopping, you might want to stop at the "Prime Outlets" mall in Grove City, which you'll be passing by. It's about an hour north of the city. Some of the great things to see in and around Pittsburgh: -Frank Lloyd Wright's "Fallingwater" house -Ride the incline up from Station Square to Mount Washington at night for one of the best views in the world -Visit the Carnegie Museum and see the "Carnegie International" (Life on Mars) show -Visit the First Presbyterian Church downtown, amazing building and one of the nation's greatest collections of Tiffany windows -Visit the Allegheny County Courthouse and jail, the masterpiece of architect H. H. Richardson -Attend a concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony at beautiful Heinz Hall -Attend a Pittsburgh Penguins game
  • Don't do black Friday. People are awful and it will give you the wrong impression of Americans.
  • here is an article that might help http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/14662715/detail.html
  • i've been to pittsburgh once, and what really sticks in my mind is the beauty of the area. if you have a chance, get out and drive some around the countryside - it's absolutely gorgeous. as for black friday - stay inside, lock the doors, and try to sleep through it. it's hell on earth. you may get to shop and save money, but it's rarely worth the hassle and headache. and traffic, and lines, and rudeness, etc.
