  • Hell, no! Marines who want to pack heat off-post (it is illegal to have a firearm in your personal possession on a Federal military installation unless it is issued to you as part of your military duties) have to get a license or permit from the controlling civilian authority for that area.
  • If you are on duty, they can apply for a permit the same way a civilian has to and also pay for it.In some areas a civilian has to take a firearm saftey class,I was told people that were in the Armed Forces doesn't have to take the class, but they have to apply and pay for the permit. And they must obey the civilian law wile carrying.
  • No. Being in the military does not allow one to carry concealed by itself. In general, military personnel must apply for a concealed carry permit under the same rules as for any civilian. However, there are certain people whose duties while in the military require them to be armed while in the performance of their duties and this MAY require them to be armed while in civilian attire or, if recalled from leave for official duties. They are provided with special permits, probably along the line of a Federal Marshall. But they are not military issue. You must also meet the requirements civilians would have to meet for the applicable job. I had a brother in the Air Force whose job required him to be armed while on official duty. This included being called off of leave. He had such a permit.
